Vance Baugham
Business and Investment Opportunities in Los Angeles
Currently, Mr. Baugham is President of the World Trade Center Association, Los Angeles-Long Beach. The World Trade Center Association supports Southern California business in expanding sales in the international market through 300 World Trade Centers in 100 countries. Mr. Baugham directs the county-wide trade program in cooperation with numerous public and private organizations. Strategically positioned at the World Trade Center facilities in Los Angeles and Long Beach, these trade centers provide individual trade counseling; trade leads and matchmaking; personal referrals to state and federal agencies for trade resources, trade financing, and overseas trade promotion; and a global investment attraction program. Previously Mr. Baugham was Senior Regional Manager with the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation. He was responsible for managing and providing assistance to the San Gabriel Valley business community in order to promote business retention, expansion and attraction to improve the employment and local tax base in a region of 31 cities with a population 2 million.
As President of the American Institute for Executive Education, he was responsible for expanding American Institute’s management training to over 1,000 clients in the U.S. and abroad. He worked extensively with U.S. and Russian industry in developing sales, joint ventures and technology transfers. Mr. Baugham was appointed by the Governor as Director of the International Trade Office for the State of Colorado. As Chief Executive of the State Trade Office, he was responsible for promoting exports, investment and tourism for Colorado in the international market. Mr. Baugham reported directly to the Governor and his Chief of Staff. During his tenure this office produced over $ 100 million in new foreign investment, participated in over 20 overseas trade shows, and lead trade missions to Asia, Europe and Latin America.
As General Manager of United Export Trading Company, Inc, he was responsible for overall management of an international trading group serving overseas and domestic markets with export/import management, market consulting, banking, insurance, freight forwarding, joint ventures and licensing. He created one of the first organizations in America to combine trading, transportation, banking and insurance services under a single operation.
Mr. Baugham was a Senior Trade Specialist with the U.S. Department of Commerce with assignments in Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Los Angeles. He served the U.S. and California trade community in developing world markets for U.S. goods by providing direct consulting services to business. This included assisting numerous California firms in successfully expanding their international sales. He was awarded “Most Outstanding Federal Executive” by the Southern California Federal Executive Board.
Mr. Baugham’s undergraduate education was in economics and political science. His graduate studies were in economics at George Washington University and international relations at the University of Southern California.
